Brandi Hofer

Skillfully crafted portraits created with the mark making in the figure and background attracted us to the beautiful work of Brandi Hofer!

Brandi Hofer is a well collected Canadian Artist, exhibiting internationally and across Canada. She has been ambitiously perusing her career upon attaining her BFA degree. Her main focus is figurative and portraiture painting, she explores themes of empowerment, the female psyche, and emotional self. Hofer’s work has been featured on national television, has experience in creating custom artworks for designers and has recently translated her artwork into large-scale murals. Since became a mother in 2014 and has been involving her children in her painting process, creating a 44-piece series with her then 2-year-old son. Brandi continues to be extremely prolific at her in-home studio, creating several bodies of work a year, on top of regular commissioned work.

Featured work includes her series GUS, which was created with her son following the death of the artist’s mother, as well as work from the series MINE (last three images), pertaining to the me too movement and rights of your own body.

See below for her statement on the series MINE:

One of the first concepts we grasp in life – mine

Yet somehow what is mine

As a girl

And now as a woman

had and

has been

judged

molded

lusted after

shaved

plucked

pushed

shamed

mine - stolen

conglomerated

a society obsessed

let them be shamed forever into silence

a door swings open

light crawls across the floor

she walks through

resilient

unscathed of the injustices that weighted on her foremothers
