Rani Permatasari

It is our pleasure to share the beautiful drawings of Indonesian artist, Rani Permatasari!

Using fine details and shifts of light, her work features traditional Indonesian motifs with modern flair. These figures explore navigating emotions and experiences internally and externally daily.

She explains:

I'm an introvert person, making art is my way to communicate my thoughts. Through my works, I protest the injustice I see, shouting whatever tension I feel, be it insecurity, anxiety, desperation, or rage. The art-making moment was like I was in a sanctuary; through each stroke, I pulled, I made conversation to my self about what I was currently feeling. Then things slowly sorted out itself, it's like a therapy for me.
