Alexandra Hemrick

Beautifully rendered paintings and mixed media work capturing moments in everyday life are just the beginning of how we could describe the work of Alexandra Hemrick. She is currently using lovely color schemes and brushstrokes capture meaning in our surroundings while examining social systems and relationships.

Alexandra Hemrick is a visual artist and curator based just outside of Atlanta, GA. Her work has recently been shown at Future Gallery in Atlanta, GA, and Spruill Gallery in Dunwoody, GA. 'Salon Suburbia' is a curatorial project she conceived in which she curates a pop-up gallery of fine art, for one night, to her home in the suburbs to expose great artists to new networks. She regularly participates in GIFC Worldwide, including the recent Velvet Ropes at Galleri Golsa in Oslo, Norway.

With a distinct interest in the architecture of domestic life, in entrenched societal systems, and in nature, Alexandra Hemrick takes the mundane and personifies it to find truth and meaning in what surrounds us. Currently, she focuses on suburban landscapes, as well as domestic landscapes, both imagined and real, and their potential to speak on entrenched systems such as the patriarchy, gatekeeping, and the role/perception of the domestic caregiver.
