Molly Schwartz
Great abstract pieces creates with colors and shattered glass. You read that right, shattered glass! Texture, sparkling light, color, and more can be found in the unique work created by Molly Schwartz!
Washington based glass artist, Molly Schwartz, creates stunning mixed media pieces of paints, pigment, and shattered glass. One can't help but be seduced by the reflective light, dimension, and color in her work.
Schwartz describes her work and process:
I love that something broken can be even better than when it was whole. I feel a connection with this art form because being broken doesn't make you less of who you are. I think it builds character, interest and complexity. Own it and it can empower you.
Hunter S. Thompson said; "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming 'Wow! What a ride!' "
So, in the spirit of that quote I love, I put my heart into each painting but instead of protecting it, I release it. I shatter the hell out of it and in doing so, a new and much different beauty emerges. It shares hidden details of its history through the jagged edges and uneven lines. It reminds me that the depth of living life and learning from it comes when you dream big, take risks and embrace every bump and bruise along the way.
